All God's Creatures Week

September 19-22

This week the children explored the wonderful world of all creatures great and small.  The classroom played host to a very popular "Animal Hospital".  Our dramatic play area was turned into an animal hospital filled with dogs, cats, field mice and even a horse.  the children took turns rescuing and saving the lives of our furry friends.

Our small sensory tub was turned into a river bed filled with river rocks and small animals native to local rivers.

We had several other animal related activities set up every morning. This activities required fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination.  This weeks theme also provided us with cute craft projects including dogs and cats made from paper plates and a goldfish made from a water bottle.

Show and Tell ~ 09/20/11

Every Tuesday the kids can bring in show and tell to share with the class.  So far this year we have had some great items brought in to share.  Today Liam shared his bakugan, battle gear and spiderman.  Pierson shared his bakugan mobile assault.  And Madison's mom Jana, brought their dog Teddy Bear by to visit the children.  Here are some photos of them:

Actual Size by Steve Jenkins

Last week the children had a blast interacting with this great book by Steve Jenkins.  The pages of the book show in actual size various animal parts - a gorilla's hand, a great white shark tooth, etc...  In this photo, Ms. Natalie laid out the tape measure 22' (the size of a great white shark) and the children laid down next to it to see how many kids it takes to measure 22'.  The answer -  the entire Pre-k class!!!

Having fun exploring our new classroom - August 2011

WELCOME PRE-K CLASS OF 2012

What an exciting year we have ahead of us with young minds growing and preparing to go off into the great big world of Kindergarten!
For the first few weeks we will be working on letters, numbers and handwriting in order to adequately assess your child’s academic progress throughout the year.
We will also be incorporating themed activities to help each child’s learning experience more unique and special. We encourage your children to be more independent each day and continue to focus on their social growth as well.
Please be sure to check the GREEN communication folders on a daily basis for important messages, behavior reports and accomplishments and great works of art.
